MOHACS and cruising 12-5-2015

Early in the morning I awoke of the changing sound of the engines, we were slowing down; why? then I looked outside and I saw shreds of mist on the river.

Around 7 we arrived at the small hungarian town of MOHACS and we anchored next to the danube-ferry.

Some of the guests went with a guide to PECS, but I have seen that town before, so I asked for a bike to make a trip through the villages around Mohacs (f.i. Kölked with the stork-museum) and seeing the Historical Memorial, which  was set up in memory of the Battle ofMohacs in 1526. It lays on the road leading to Sátorhely.

A memorial park on the place of a lost battle is unusual but this was a tragedy of lasting memory. The fight against the Turkish only lasted for half an hour but had started a 150 years of suppression of  Hungary under Ottoman rule.

The smells were nice the colors of all the wild spring flowers also and the road leading to the memorail was lined with white-blossoming chestnut trees.

Around midday we went a little bit further on the river, to do some funny customs procedures; they wanted all sort of papers from the boat and wanted to see us all in person (just shortle comparing us with the picture in our passports) and foto and video forbidden! Half an hour later we went on, now in Serbia, between green bushes of a flat land with several nature parks.

And that night we had a barbeque on the topdeck and we celebrated the birthday of our austrian friend Karin, in Holland we would say that she became Sarah today.

Our DJ Kay, especially dressed for this occasion, organised a 70-80 music night, so we danced and were singing until late.
